長期以來，隱喻只被認為是一種譬喻法，一種文學上的修辭技巧，然而這樣的想法，在仔細觀察生活週遭的語言使用後，很快就會被推翻。隱喻其實並不只是為潤飾而存在，它大量的存在於人類言談及思想中；我們習以為常的語言，其實反映了人類如何了解自己的語言與經驗。
隱喻是人類概念系統的一部分，許多我們思考的方式，我們所經驗的事物都是隱喻的某一種表徵；我們思考以及了解這個世界的方式，其實在某個層面上受到了限制，只是我們往往無所覺。本課程以日常生活的語言現象為基礎，藉由探索「隱喻」的本質與應用，帶領讀者一探人類思維模式的靈活運用，探索思想認知之奧秘，以及文化對人類思維模式的影響。

（一）本課程開授目的：本計畫擬透過開設通識課程的方式，以跨學科思考的方式帶領學生研討此經典之內容。本計畫擬由日常生活的語言現象為基礎，逐步帶領學生，進入人類思維模式及認知科學的世界。在1980所出版的Metaphors We Live By, Lakoff and Johnson為認知語言學的研究奠定了里程碑。我們希望藉此能使學生瞭解隱喻及思想的本質，及瞭解其在語言學及認知科學其他研究領域中的角色；使學生能瞭解語言及思想的譬喻性，及文化對人類思維模式的影響及互動關係。

承攬台鐵售票機的35歲陳姓工程師，利用維修的名義持有自動售票機錢箱鑰匙，於售票系統「動手腳」，讓售票紀錄與金額於台鐵帳務系統上消失，再趁台鐵人員不注意，隨即拿走錢箱內的零錢，3年內共竊取603萬餘元。陳男坦承犯行，賠償和解金614萬餘元，新北地檢7日予以緩起訴處分。
緩起訴書指出，2014年11月至去年7月間，陳男利用職務之便，握有可任意拆卸台鐵售票機錢箱的鑰匙，意外發現售票機系統有一個「bug」，只要換插記憶卡，售票記錄便會歸零，因此心生貪念。
陳男每天早上9時許先將板橋火車站較不起眼的2台售票機的記憶卡，抽換成自己事先準備的記憶卡，下午5時許再趁機抽換回台鐵的記憶卡，致使台鐵無相關售票紀錄。

事後，陳男再開啟自動售票系統的錢箱，每天將錢箱內的5、6千元零錢帶回家存入戶頭，3年內偷走台鐵603萬元，台鐵人員都沒有察覺任何可疑之處。
去年7月13日陳男忘記取出「多出來」的錢，讓台鐵車站收入突增6000多元，帳目不符，於是台鐵調閱監視器畫面，報警查出陳男的犯行。
庭訊時，陳男坦承犯行，檢方考量他無前科，並賠償高於竊取金額的614萬餘元，與台鐵達成和解，因此予以緩起訴處分，條件是寫悔過書、支付國庫5萬元及接受8小時法治教育。

大聯盟美聯冠軍系列賽首戰，今（14）日太空人在主場迎戰洋基，洋基打線遭太空人投手群封鎖，只靠著Greg Bird（柏德）的陽春砲攻下1分，最後以1:2敗給太空人。
此役洋基派出日籍投手田中將大先發，前3局田中投得平穩，不過第4局遭遇亂流，太空人靠著Jose Altuve的內野安打，加上連續2支安打串聯，攻下2分。田中投6局，被敲4支安打，失2分為自責分，送出3次三振。
雖然田中繳出優質先發，但洋基打線遭到太空人投手群封鎖，先發投手Dallas Keuchel（凱戈）投7局只被敲4支安打，沒有失分，狂飆10次三振。
8局太空人啟動牛棚，Chris Devenski上場解決一個人次後，接著投出保送，球隊直接壓上終結者Ken Giles，他順利化解這個半局的危機。
9局Giles在抓下2人出局後，被Greg Bird轟出陽春全壘打，失太空人全場唯一1分，最後三振Jacoby Ellsbury，為球隊守下勝利，太空人在系列賽拔得頭籌。
